What a Mumbaikar feels about the blasts
By now the whole world knows about the blasts that rocked mumbai on 11 July 2006. I was talking (chatting) to anna (a friend of mine who lives in mumbai) and here is what she feels…
k…..i came 2 knw abt d blast whn my cousin called 4m delhi 2 enquire if v were all safe. since our tv was not working….i suddenly logged in2 my news channels on web. it was really pathetic 2 c those scenes there
suddenly i tuk my phone 2 enquire if my frnds were all safe….bcoz i knw many of them travel d same time on d same route. unfortunately phones were disabled. then v were getting upadtes 4m d radio
ok…..i really felt sad abt it all. thought abt those 100s of innocent ppl dying in pain there, their relatives. wished if i cud get 2 d spot 2 help thm out
but d commendable part was done by d public. whn d forces were late 2 reach d spot…d public took up d resposibily. d ppl in d near by slams palyed d major role. radio stations opened their help lines. ppl cud post their messages on air 4 their luved 1s. that was really excellent
the worst of all was d traffic jams on d roads, ppl were stuck up 4 hrs on d roads. BEST started its new bus service. almost 50 buses were on track. d residents there helped d ppl on roads with water, biscuits & rooti. these ppl were on air d nxt day. felt really nice listening 2 thm
d best part is how mumbai bounced back. u jst wont believe i was travelling on d train d nxt day….it was so packed
The last line is indicative of what we know as the spirit of the city. Salaam Mumbai!
