Churn’s On – Even fat pay cheques can’t stop them

Handsome salaries, attractive perks and desired designations. What more can a company offer to the manager so that he stays on? Employers better begin racking their brains on this, if a recent study by a professor at the Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIM-A) is any indication.
The study by Prof Sunil Maheshwari, who specialises in personnel and industrial relations, has revealed that large number of managers are “no more committed†to their organisations. The study finds that emotional bonding or fat pay cheques are no more sufficient to retain employees for long.
“The commitment levels have gone down dramatically. Earlier, the satisfaction levels were high and the employees were committed to the organisation. Now, the employees think they deserve more than what is being offered to them,†says Mr Maheshwari.
