NDTV says:

For most of us, driving in chaotic Mumbai becomes a bit easier with some relaxing music. But that’s not an option anymore. The Mumbai traffic police has a new diktat. A ban on listening to music in cars because they claim, it distracts drivers. A ban not just on loud music, but on any kind of music.

WTF? What the fucking hell were these people smoking when they came up with this wonderful idea that makes as much as sense as drying the oceans because sometimes your roof leaks when it rains.. arghh!!! No cellphones, now no music. What options do people have when in car and stuck in the never ending traffic jams?

Its All About The Music

Fever (104.0 MHz), seems to have kicked off its ad campaign in Bangalore. Fever has been on air since February 2007. While its available to audience on 104.0 MHz, it is not yet out of the testing phase. But with the launch of ad campaign, the official launch can’t be far behind. A collabration between HT Music and Virgin Radio, it looks like the best channel on air in Bangalore now. With a promised “40 minutes of non-stop music” that includes a nice mix of English and Hindi songs, the channel does live up to its slogan of being “all about the music”

For now it is All about the music, but I wonder how long will it last? Radio City used to be pretty cool a while back, till they decided that they need to be catering to the lowest common denominator and seems to have completely ruined itself. Mirchi was sad to start with (hell, I can’t make head or tail of Kannada and thats what they seem to like talking in). Never serioulsy checked Big FM, but guess that too is heavily kannada laden.

We have seen a boom in the number of FM channels that are on air, but the quality seems to have only gone down (IMO). If you exclude Indigo (91.9 MHz), there is no other channel that can even be considered worth listening to. Will Fever live upto the promise of being all about the music, or will it go the city way? Too early to say. Hope it does not get influenced by the dark side, may the force be with you, fever :-)
